Self Portrait Oil on Canvas

Jamie Ferguson finds meaning in the spaces between—between the technical and the artistic, light and shadow, who we are and who we dream of becoming. From his studios in San Diego and Big Bear Lake, he creates oil paintings that invite viewers to explore these intersections alongside him.

Jamie’s journey as an artist is anything but conventional. By day, he works as a design engineer in California’s tech industry, solving complex problems with creativity. By night and on weekends, he devotes himself to his true passion—capturing human emotions and experiences on canvas. His blend of precision and artistic intuition gives his work a captivating quality that collectors treasure.

Though oil painting is now his primary medium, Jamie’s artistic foundation was shaped by years of diverse creative exploration—from performing in Hollywood metal bands to crafting ceramic pieces, with a lifelong love of photography woven throughout. His deep understanding of form, rhythm, and negative space informs every brushstroke, bringing a unique depth to his work.

Jamie’s paintings invite contemplation, drawing viewers into the balance between technical precision and raw emotion. His work has earned recognition in juried exhibitions throughout Southern California, consistently resonating with collectors and curators alike.

Rooted in the interplay of his diverse experiences, Jamie’s creative process brings a captivating depth to his work. In his music-filled studio, he strives to capture those fleeting moments of human connection that we all seek.
